Notes
In 1952 Qahtan Madfai returned to Iraq after having finished his education at the University of Cardiff. In the fall of the same year, Madfai won an architectural competition (shared with an entry by Jafar Allawi). After that, he started designing on his own using several building techniques. In 1957 Madfai collaborated with other architects —one of which was Abdallah Ihsan Kamil—and won a competition to design a bank. In 1984, and after having proved himself as a present architect, Madfai pursued a Doctorate Degree in Architecture.
